Woman dies of swine flu in Orissa

Swine flu claimed its first victim in Orissa this year with a woman dying of the disease at a private hospital on Monday. The 56-year-old woman, a resident of Sailashri Vihar locality of the state capital, had been admitted to Apollo Hospital on July 29 with complaints of severe cold, high fever and chest pain, hospital sources said. Swab and blood samples of the patient were sent to Regional Medical Research Centre here on July 30 which confirmed swine flu, the sources said. Last year, one person had died of swine flu in Rourkela. Three persons were earlier treated for swine flu at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
