Woman to carry surrogate baby for Iranian couple

An Iranian couple has hired womb of a woman here to have surrogate baby, a doctor in a specialised hospital said on Tuesday. This would be the first case of surrogacy in Chhattisgarh.

Sources at the hospital where the surrogacy would be held said, the couple, residents of Mashad town in Iran, has completed all legal process for the purpose. The transplantation of embryo in surrogate mother will be done in August this year.
Sources said all legal process relating to surrogacy has been completed between the foreign couple and the woman, who is willing to lend her womb to rear their child. It is a commercial surrogacy, as the surrogate mother would be paid `2 lakh besides her nourishment and hospitalisation charges during the period.
