Why only Shobha, drop all my loyalists: BSY
Bengaluru: Former CM B.S. Yeddyurappa, who has declared his resolve to topple the BJP government, lashed out at his former party for its decision to drop his close aide and energy minister Shobha Karandlaje from the cabinet. Ms Karandlaje had invited the wrath of BJP by writing an open letter to CM Jagadish Shettar criticising the law and order situation and for failing to ensure the safety of women.
“Let the BJP drop all my supporters. Dropping one or two ministers from the cabinet makes no sense,” said the Karnataka Janata Party president, reacting to the BJP core committee’s decision to oust Ms Karandlaje.
Mr Yeddyurappa also poked fun at BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar saying he had lost out in the race to become CM with the BJP deciding to project Mr Shettar as the CM candidate in the coming Assembly polls.
Why one or two ministers? Drop them all: BSY
Let the BJP government drop all my supporters from the Cabinet. Dropping one or two ministers from the Cabinet makes no sense – dared former chief minister and KJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa, on Sunday, reacting to the BJP core committee’s decision to remove his close aide and energy minister Shobha Karandlaje from the Jagadish Shettar Cabinet.
The core committee decided to axe Ms Karandlaje from the cabinet after she wrote a letter to Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, lashing out at the government for the `crumbling law and order situation’ in the state, which has witnessed as many as 20 rapes in two months,
“I have no objection to the BJP dropping Ms Karandlaje”, said the KJP president who expressed confidence that his supporters would soon join the KJP fold.
“We have finalised 50 candidates for the assembly polls and have completed the process in Bidar and Gulbarga. While the Tumkur list is pending, the final list is likely to be ready by January end. You will then see how many MLAs are with me”, said the former CM.
Reacting to deputy chief minister K.S. Eshwarappa’s claim that he was not responsible for BSY’s arrest in the illegal mining scam and the CBI raids on his properties, Mr Yeddyurappa said, “Why is he raking up an old issue? I never claimed that Eshwarappa had a hand in this. His comment at this juncture smacks of a political motive.”
It’s a pity Ananth Kumar lost his chance to become CM: Former CM
I am disappointed that Ananth Kumar (BJP national general secretary) has lost his chance to occupy the chief minister’s chair – taunted former chief minister and KJP state president B.S. Yeddyurappa on Sunday, reacting to the BJP core committee’s decision to project Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar as the party’s chief ministerial candidate in the coming elections. Mr Yeddyurappa said, “I feel bad that Ananth Kumar has missed the chance to become CM. I welcome Shettar being proclaimed as the chief ministerial candidate. They (BJP) are free to do what they want. I do not think this development is a setback for me in any way, as people will make the final decision.” Mr Shettar is a leader of the dominant Lingayat community like Mr Yeddyurappa.
