Why blame cops: VS
Opposition leader V. S. Achuthanandan on Friday took on the state leadership of the party yet again saying those who have reservations about the current police probe into the T.P. Chandrashekharan murder should approach the courts rather than resorting to protest actions.
Two more persons, one of them a CPM man and the other a gangster, have been arrested in the ongoing SIT probe on Friday.
Achuthanandan’s statement to the media comes after party state secretariat member Elamaram Kareem accused the police of using third degree methods against the CPM leaders arrested in connection with the murder.
When asked about the allegations being levelled by party leaders against the investigating officials, VS said, “One should not forget that it was through legal means that Balakrishna Pillai was handed out conviction in a corruption case. Those having any doubt about the probe could always approach the courts.’’
In Kollam, Achuthanandan lashed out at T. K. Hamza for saying VS had a habit of stabbing the party from the back whenever the CPM faced a crisis. VS said Hamza was in the Congress when the CPM was formed. “Hamza later crossed over to the CPM and benefited by becoming an MLA, MP and minister. Hamza is waiting to grab more positions.”
Mullappalli: Plot will be exposed
The conspiracy behind the T.P. Chandrasekharan murder will be exposed and “some big sharks in the deep sea” would be trapped soon, Union minister of state for Home affairs Mullappalli Ramachandran has said.
Addressing the media here, he expressed satisfaction over the ongoing investigation, saying he never intervened at any level of the probe. “I never tried to fix any direction for the investigation.”
Referring to the threat from CPM state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan that the “CPM would become a fire-ball if the police targeted innocent Communists,’ Ramachandran said it was a call for violence. “Pinarayi lost his sleep after the TPC m
urder. That is why he is showering abuses on many including my late father,” Ramachandran said.
“My father was never a black-sheep and had maintained good relations with the Communist leaders of Onchiyam”, he said.
The minister said that he wished the Communist movement existed strong around the world. “But the CPM leaders are trying to destroy the party,” he said, adding VS Achuthanandan was trying to breath a new life into the party.
