Whistleblower ips officer termed ‘mad’

Senior IPS officer, Devendra Dutt Misra, posted as DIG Fire Services, who had alleged massive corruption in high department on Friday night, has been forcibly admitted to the hospital for mental problems.
A senior official told reporters that Mr Misra was speaking in an incoherent manner and was suffering form frustration and depression and, therefore, needed to be treated.
Deepak Kumar, principal home secretary said, “After examining D.D. Mishra’s condition, doctors have advised that he should be admitted to hospital. He was under depression and not well from last one month. His family also confirmed that. His treatment is on in the medical college.”
Meanwhile, the state government on Saturday ordered a probe into the allegations levelled by the IPS officer and also his misconduct. D-G anti corruption bureau Atul Kumar has been entrusted the inquiry.
The IPS officer, who took on UP chief minister Mayawati on Friday over the corruption issue, had threatened to make public files containing evidence of the massive embezzlement of funds in the purchase of fire fighting equipment.
He alleged that senior officers had siphoned off crores and that his superiors had pressurised him to clear files. The DIG of Lucknow, however, said that MR Misra was behaving abnormally and seemed to have some mental problem. The officer, on the other hand, seemed to be under tremendous pressure when media persons visited him in the hospital.

Army chief reviews security
Age Correspondent
New Delhi, Nov. 5

Army Chief Gen. V.K. Singh is currently on a three-day visit to Ladakh “to review the security situation and preparedness of the troops” in the sensitive region that borders China.
The Army Chief will also be visiting Kargil on Sunday to review the deployment along western Ladakh bordering Pakistan.
The visit is being seen as significant, considering that the Army remains deployed even during winters in that region after the Kargil conflict of 1999.
There have been reports in the past over Chinese military transgressions into Indian territory in the Ladakh sector but there are different perceptions between the two countries on the delineation of the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Gen. Singh also visited forward Army posts in eastern Ladakh.
As reported earlier, the Indian Army plans to set up a strike mountain corps to boost defence preparedness vis-a-vis China and the proposal is pending before the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS).
During the on-going visit, Gen. Singh also visited the Siachen glacier and was briefed by the Siachen brigade commander.
The Siachen glacier is the world’s highest battle-field.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
