West Bengal CM lashes out at Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal chief minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee has lashed out at railway minister and Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee for accusing the ruling Left Front without reason.

Addressing a rally here on Tuesday, Mr Bhattacharjee termed Ms Banerjee as a leader without any set programme and her party as one with no agenda for the masses.
"I have not seen such an Opposition party in the country. The party is unique and useless. What kind of party is it? It has one leader (referring to Mamata Banerjee) and everyone is under her feet. Do they have any policy? Do they have any agenda? What she says is the policy and agenda. Her only habit is to lie everyday," he said.

He voiced his anger at Ms Banerjee for blaming the CPM for fatal railway mishaps in the state.

"If there is any riot in Kolkata, then we have done it. It is a total lie, but she keeps on saying such things. The 149 people who died in the Gyaneshwari train accident, who did it? We did it? This is also a big lie. She very well knows who did it. The train accident in Sainthia, even today and yesterday the Rajdhani got derailed. The two trains collided in Sainthia, who did that?," said Mr Bhattacharjee.

He also charged the Central government for rendering step-motherly treatment to West Bengal vis-à-vis relief for the prevailing situation of drought in several districts of the state.

"I wrote to the Prime Minister about the situation of the state; that we are facing drought. There has been no agriculture in 11 lakh hectares of land. What about these farmers if we are unable to provide them employment then what will they do. The Panchayat minister is looking into the matter. But whenever we ask them for money they pull their hands back," he said.

“We had asked the Centre to make a list of essential commodities to be provided through PDS. They have refused to listen to us.” he added.
