Webcam given to Thettayil: Woman
Kochi: In a major development, the woman who complained against former minister Jose Thettayil for his involvement in a sex scam told the media that she had handed over key evidence to the MLA when the two parties discussed the issue earlier. The evidence consisted of the webcam and the laptop used to shoot the bedroom sex sting.
The alleged victim’s statement came after the special investigation team asked her about the camera and the laptop to go through the unedited version of the video.
“I went to Jose Thettayil’s office with the webcam and the laptop to make him agree for my marriage with his son, Adarsh. During the discussion in his conference room, he agreed that the marriage would be held the next day. One Smiley and Martine were witnesses to this meeting. On his agreement, I gave the camera and the laptop to him.
The next day, Adarsh came to the registration office and told us that his dad did not agree for the marriage and that he was backing out. Although I had handed over the laptop and the webcam, I had copied some of the video clips to my pen drive. It was this pen drive that I submitted before the police,” she said.
The woman also told the media that the webcam was installed in her bedroom by a private company in Ernakulam. “My friend had asked me to shoot Thettayil’s affair with me as he seemed dangerous.
So I told a company that I needed a webcam in my room to spy on our maid. The camera had the technology to start recording when the objects in its frame move,” the woman added. She also said she had not made any financial negotiations with Jose Thettayil. She has faith in the investigation team, she added.
Meanwhile, the SIT sleuths raided the houses of Thettayil and the woman to collect evidence. Sources said the cops could not find the laptop and the webcam at MLA’s house, but they recovered the pen drive, which contains the video clips, from the woman.
