We will emerge stronger after Opp. attack: Maya
UP chief minister Mayawati on Tuesday said that whenever the BSP has been attacked, it has emerged stronger. The chief minister welcomed the opposition attacks on her government and said that these would work to her advantage in the Assembly elections due next year.
Speaking at a function organised here on Tuesday to mark the death anniversary of Dr B.R. Ambedkar, she said, “Our party and government work on the principles of the movement of Dr Ambedkar and the opposition parties are trying to push the movement back. But it will move forward with renewed strength. Whenever the BSP or its government has been attacked, we have shown better results because the attacks help to wake up our cadres who are sleeping.”
Ms Mayawati asked party workers not to get “distracted and demoralised” by the various hurdles being created by the opposition parties to stop the BSP from forming a government at the Centre. “Instead of getting upset by the tactics of Opposition parties, give them a befitting reply by ensuring the party’s victory,” she stated.
She recalled that on the eve of the 2007 Assembly polls, the Samajwadi Party, the BJP and the Congress has used all possible issues to attack the BSP and had claimed that the BSP was finished. “Nevertheless, we returned with a full majority and now that these parties have no issues against us, they are again making false comments on our government, legislators and party functionaries,” she said.
She blamed the Opposition parties for not doing enough for the welfare and respect of dalits and said that they were trying to harm the BSP movement instead. The chief minister dedicated 160 projects worth `1,500 crore to the people of the state on the occasion.
