Warden, girl’s parents held as urine row boils

Instead of sympathising with the parents of a Class 5 girl of a Visvabharati school forced to drink her own urine as a punishment for bed-wetting, the university authorities got them arrested, though they were then swiftly released.

The warden who had forced the girl to drink her urine was also arrested, but later released on a personal bond of Rs 200.
The chain of incidents at Visvabharati since Saturday, when 10-year-old Punita Singh was forced to drink her own urine by warden Uma Poddar, has led to outrage and anger among students, guardians and society at large.
