UP wants its CWG cops back
New Delhi, Sept. 13: The UP police has asked for the return of a sizeable chunk of their men and officers deputed to Delhi for the Commonwealth Games-2010 as it gears up for the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit decision, which is expected on September 24.
The move comes when the formal security take-over has already taken place, and the Games are barely 20 days away. Besides, the UP police has asked for 35,000 additional Central paramilitary forces personnel for security purposes.
The UP police feels it will require extra forces to keep the law and order situation in control after the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court delivers its verdict in the 125-year-old case.
However, officials of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee said that security personnel would be back in Delhi before the Games begin.
