Vizag boy aces CAT with 100 per cent
Hyderabad: Ravi Teja Palla, an IIT-Madras student from Vizag, was one of the 10 students in the country who secured a 100 percentile score in the Common Admission Test (CAT-2012), the results of which were announced on Wednesday.
This year, Hyderabad stood fourth in the country in terms of city-wise performance in securing 99 percentile and above; 105 students from the city achieved this feat. “Students from AP performed better in CAT this year. Our student from Vizag branch, Ravi Teja Palla, secured 100 percentile score in CAT,” said Mr Ramnath, CAT course director at TIME, a coaching institute.
Of the 10 candidates who got 100 percentile scores, eight were from IITs. Five of the 10 students are still doing their graduation.
Besides the prestigious Indian Institutes of Managements (IIMs), CAT scores are accepted by many premier B-schools and management institutions for admission to their management programmes.
A total of 1,91,642 candidates had appeared in the 21-day long testing window from October 11 to Novem-ber 6, 2012 across 36 cities. Nearly 10,000 students from AP had taken the test.
Candidates can access CAT 2012 results by logging in using their registration number and e-mail ID. The results can be accessed till December 31, 2013. IIM Kozhikode coordinated CAT 2012.
However, students had a tough time accessing the results on the website in the morning due to technical glitches after they were declared at 3 am on Wedne-sday. The site crashed for a few hours as it could not handle the huge traffic and students could access the results only by evening.
