Viveka’s ex-boyfriend grilled

After grilling stock analyst Gautam Vora, the police probing the death of fashion model Viveka Babajee on Wednesday questioned her former boyfriend, who is a businessman, for over one hour.

Kartik Jobanputra was questioned for over an hour in connection with the supermodel’s death and his statement was recorded at Khar police station, a senior police official said.
Kartik’s lawyer Laxman Kanal said, “Kartik fully co-operated with the police during questioning this evening. He has no role in the model’s death but since he knows her very well, the police wanted to know certain things about Babajee from him and that’s why he was called to the police station.” 37-year-old Babajee, former Miss Mauritius, was found hanging from the ceiling at her Continental Towers flat in suburban Bandra on June 25, the police said.
According to the police, Babajee and Jobanputra were in a relationship till mid-2009. The duo had floated an event management company which was doing well till differences cropped up between them.
“Babajee and Jobanputra parted ways professionally during December last year,” the official said. “When they floated the event management company, whose idea it was, about their affair, why they parted ways personally and professionally, when he had spoken to her last time were among several questions posed at Kartik,” the official added.
Earlier, the police had recorded the statements of the model’s family members and her “boyfriend” Vora, who fearing arrest on the charge of abetting Babajee’s suicide, had approached a local court last week for bail. —PTI

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
