Venkaiah, Jaitley kept out of UP

New Delhi, July 22: Mr Bangaru Laxman has been given a crucial post and made election in-charge of Tamil Nadu.

The much-awaited list of the BJP in-charges of various states and party cells was declared on Friday, seven months after Mr Gadkari took over as president.

Mr Gadkari also promoted party secretary and its youth leader, Mr Varun Gandhi, by appointing him as election in-charge of Assam.

Eyebrows were raised following Mr Gadkari’s decision to keep seniors like Mr Arun Jaitley and Mr M. Venkaiah Naidu away from UP.

Mr Gadkari also brought Ms Hema Malini as the head of the BJP’s cultural cell.

The party general-secretary, Mr Ananth Kumar, has been made Madhya Pradesh in-charge.

Mr Vinay Katiyar was appointed as election in-charge of West Bengal.

The party secretary, Mr Murlidhar Rao, considered close to the RSS, was appointed as Kerala’s in-charge.
