Valentine's Day fallout: Agra boy killed by classmates
A 15-year-old boy was killed by two of his classmates after they had an altercation on the Valentine's Day over him befriending a girl, and the body was dumped in a mustard field, police here said.
Looking for the missing 15-year-old, police found his brutally stabbed body in a field in Khandauli area close to the Yamuna Expressway on Thursday. It was villagers who first spotted the body and informed police.
Etmauddaula police station investigators told reporters that the teenager, Atul Kumar, was taken away by two of his classmates, Bhupendra and Devendra, on Wednesday on the pretext of buying stationery and was murdered. Atul's father is a clerk in the block development office in Hathras district.
The two accused are Class 8 students at St. Stephen's School in the trans-Yamuna area.
Bhupendra was arrested after a neighbour told family members that Atul had gone with him on a motorbike. After his arrest, Bhupendra kept confusing the police for more than two hours but finally broke down when he could not explain why his fingers were cut and bleeding.
Students and later the accused boys confirmed that the gruesome murder was the result of Atul befriending a girl whom Devendra liked intensely.
Devendra is the son of a police inspector posted at Firozabad. The two boys and Atul seem to have had an altercation over the girl on the Valentine's Day, police say.
A post-mortem examination report suggested the attack was well planned, with a dozen wounds on the chest and the throat slit with a knife. Police confirmed later that the knife used in the attack has been recovered.
Bhupendra said he joined Devendra after a promise of Rs.5,000, Rs.1,000 being paid in advance, police said.
