UPA dinner postponed after crash
As a mark of respect to the Mangalore air crash victims, the government on Saturday postponed a function slated for Saturday evening to release the government’s report on completion of one year in office.
The release function was to be followed by a dinner hosted by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at his residence.
After the news broke that an Air India flight from Dubai has crashed at Mangalore airport killing 158 people onboard, the PMO in a statement said, “A dinner to be hosted at the Prime Minister’s residence as part of the celebrations to mark the completion of one year of the coalition government has been postponed.”
The Prime Minister had invited leaders of the Congress, allies in the government and others who are supporting from outside to the function.

Age Correspondent
Lucknow
On the day when the UPA government completed its first year in office, the BSP in UP held state-wide demonstrations to protest against inflation and to highlight the failures of the Central government.
Demonstrations were held in almost all districts in and around Dumariaganj where an Assembly byelection is scheduled to be held in June.
In a statement released here on Saturday, UP chief minister Mayawati said that the unprecedented price rise was a result of the faulty economic policies of the UPA government.
Ms Mayawati said that the Congress-led UPA government was pursuing pro-capitalist policies and not pro-people policies.
