Unfortunate, tragic, says consul general Kiran Shaw
IN an interview, with DC, Biocon chief Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, the Irish honorary consul reacted to the death of Savita Halappanavar.
DC: Savita Halappanavar died in Ireland due to medical negligence…
KMS: It is very unfortunate and tragic. I am sorry for the family.
DC: Was the death due to the doctor's negligence?
KMS: This is a medical case and I do not have all the details of the case. Whether the death was due to the doctors' negligence or something else is to be investigated. Until the Irish government knows what exactly went wrong, it is not right on my part to comment.
DC: What reaction do you expect/ demand from the Irish government on this?
KMS: I am sure the Irish government will investigate all issues related to the death and we will be able to understand what caused the death.
DC: As the connection between Bengaluru and Ireland, what help can the family of Savita expect from you?
KMS: As the Irish honorary consulhere I can forward all information I receive from the family to the Irish Ambassador.
