Unattachment of Haryana MLAs ‘unsustainable’

The recent order of the Punjab and Haryana high court unattaching five Assembly members of Haryana could well turn out to be a faceoff between the judiciary and legislator of the ruling party. In a letter written to the Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana on Thursday, two Haryana MLAs described the recent order as “not sustainable and exceeding its jurisdiction”.
Two Congress MLAs — Ragbir Singh Kadyan and Bharat Bhusan Batra — and former MLA Karan Singh Dalal had written a letter to the Chief Justice urging him to look into the matter himself and issue “appropriate directions to set things in order”.
