Uma demands Rahul’s apology
Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti on Saturday lashed out at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi for calling her an outsider and demanded an apology for his comments.
“If I am an outsider in Bundelkhand, then what about Sonia Gandhi who belongs to Italy? What about Kripa Shankar Singh and Sheila Dikshit who belong to UP but are doing politics in Mumbai and Delhi respectively? What about Rahul’s own grandmother? Rahul should see that his partymen do not use derogatory language and, in fact, he should apologise for the comments that his party men have made against me,” she said at a press conference here on Saturday.
Ms Bharti said that she had asked her party leaders not to counter or respond to the “derogatory language” being used by the Congress.
Striking an emotional note, Ms Bharti said that while Mr Gandhi was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, she was born in a poor family. “But there is no question mark on my honesty and integrity? Using any kind of derogatory language against me is actually an insult to the poor,” she pointed out.
Ms Uma Bharti further said that Rahul Gandhi repeatedly claimed that Mayawati’s elephant was eating up all the money but the truth is that it is the Congress that is feeding the elephant .
“Who is responsible if the state government is misusing central funds? Why is no action being taken? This is shadow boxing between the Congress-BSP and SP and the Congress is slowing down the CBI probe against these leaders because it wants to keep the numbers secure in UPA,” she alleged.
