‘U’khand MLAs in MP on pilgrimage’
Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs from Uttarakhand, who secretly arrived at Ujjain on Thursday, offered prayers at the sacred Mahakal Temple early morning on Friday and spent the remaining part of the day visiting the holy town of Omkareshwar.
It is being said in knowledgeable circles that the Uttarakhand BJP MLAs have been brought to Ujjain to insulate them from those in the Congress who might try to split the BJP legislators to help Uttarakhand chief minister Vijay Bahuguna, who faces an acid test and has to prove his majority on the floor of the House on March 26.
State Bharatiya Janata Party president Prabhat Jha has chosen to remain in denial mode vis-à-vis the Uttarakhand BJP MLAs and has taken the stand that nothing much should be read in their arrival en masse. He told mediapersons that they have come to Madhya Pradesh only on a pilgrimage.
Despite this assertion by the state BJP president, few of the “guest MLAs” have preferred to break away from the total seclusion imposed by their party and have spoken to the media conveying that they would not miss any opportunity to form a BJP government in Uttarakhand.
