U’khand BJP leaders meet today
The BJP top brass has convened a meeting of its seniormost leaders from Uttarakhand, including chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Thursday.
With Assembly elections in the state scheduled next year, the party top brass wants to know the poll-related preparation and also advise its leaders to work in unison.
The Uttarakhand unit of the BJP is marred by growing dissidence against Mr Nishank, whose government is battling against land scams. Though the BJP high command had ruled out any leadership change in the state, a majority section is still adamant that Mr Nishank should be removed.
Senior leader B.S. Koshiyari and former Uttarakhand CM B.C. Khanduri, it was learnt, had conveyed their concern to the BJP top brass over the party’s prospects in the elections.
