Two LeT militants arrested in J&K
Two Lashkar-e-Tayyaba (LeT) militants were arrested after an encounter broke out between security forces and the ultras of the LeT in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir, the police said on Saturday.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Bhimdasa area of Gool tehsil in Ramban district on Friday evening. A brief gunbattle took place between the militants and security forces, they said, adding two militants engaged in the encounter were arrested.
They have been identified as Abdul Rashid and Mohammad Iqbal of Ramban district, they said. The seizures made from the ultras included a pistol, a rifle, 80 rounds of pistol, 190 rounds of rifle, 237 rounds of Pika rifle. The militants have been sent to Joint Interrogation Centre for interrogation, they said.
Meanwhile, a Hizbul Mujahideen militant Munir Ahmed Malik, alias Munna, was arrested in Jammu city on Friday night, they said, adding efforts are on to track down his associate Mehboob Dar.
The duo had allegedly dropped IEDs at Indira Chowk near MLA Hostel on the eve of Navratras in Jammu city. The IEDs were recovered and defused by the police on Friday night.
