Two held for killing toll plaza worker
The Gurgaon police arrested two youth on Monday for their alleged involvement in the murder of 22-year-old toll plaza attendant Umeshkant Pandey, who was shot dead for a mere `27 toll tax in the intervening night of Thursday-Friday.
“The duo has been identified as Vijayveer and Manjeet. They belong to Gurgaon district and Delhi respectively. They were arrested with the help of the toll plaza CCTV footage. Vijayveer, 28, was drunk at the time of the incident and tried to cover up his crime by modifying his vehicle. He was arrested along with his friend Manjeet, who tried to harbour him,” said a senior police official.
The police said Vijayveer was drunk when he entered the toll plaza and killed Umesh Kant after an argument. The argument was that he shou-ld be exempted from paying toll tax as he was a local and did not like to be asked for his car registration papers for verification.
