Tribunal gives split verdict on 3G roaming
TDSAT’s two-member bench on Tuesday gave a split verdict on the telecom department’s order to operators to end 3G intra-circle roaming pacts. It is likely that the telecom operators may go to the Supreme Court.
In December, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea had challenged the telecom department’s decision to terminate their intra-circle 3G roaming pacts in TDSAT.
TDSAT chairman Justice S.B. Sinha allowed the telecom operators’ plea saying that it was violative of natural justice, but member P.K. Rastogi dismissed the plea saying they cannot provide roaming.
