Tribal rescued from hill pit after 70 hours
Nearly 70 hours after he fell into a pit on a hillock and got trapped inside at Chichagaon in Chhattis-garh’s Kanker district, a tribal was rescued by a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) on Saturday afternoon.
The 15-member team belonging to the third battalion of NDRF was flown from their headquarters at Cuttack in Orissa by a helicopter to Chichagaon at around mid-noon on Saturday after other rescue teams mobilised from different parts of Chhattisgarh failed to remove the victim Ram Prasad Netam from the narrow cave, locally known as Shankari Numa Gumpha. “My team rescued the victim safely in a three-hour operation at around 5 pm. I congratulate the team for the successful operation”, commandant of third battalion of NDRF M.K.Yadav told this newspaper over phone from Cuttack. After his rescue, it was found that Ram Prasad sustained injuries.
