Tremors felt in Delhi after major quake in Pakistan
New Delhi: Tremors were felt in the city this evening after an earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Richter scale hit Pakistan's Balochistan area.
Met department said latitude of the quake was 27 degree North and longitude was 65.7 degree East. It was at a depth of 10 kilo metres at the epicentre in Pakistan, it said. The temors were felt at around 5 PM. There were no immediate report of any casualties or damage.
The US Geological Survey said the powerful quake measured 7.4 on the Richter Scale. The quake struck at 4.29 pm Pakistani time southwest of the city of Khuzdar in Balochistan province at a depth of 23 kilometres.
According to Pakistan's Meteorological Department, the epicentre was 120 km from Khuzdar. Many Pakistanis said in messages posted on Twitter that the quake was felt across Karachi and Islamabad. At several places, people rushed out of high-rise buildings and began to pray.
