Train attack on engineering students: Accused ‘missing’
Engineering student Akhil Babu, allegedly involved in Friday night’s attack on two other students on the Chennai Mail, is “missing,” his parents said.
A native of Prayar and studying at the Salem College of Technology, Akhil talked cheerfully to his parents on Sunday, but gave no hint of the attack. He said he would soon come to Ernakulam with friends, according to his mother.
After seeing the news, the parents tried to contact him, but to no avail. Two of the students injured in the attack had been hospitalised.
Meanwhile, a collegemate of Geevarghese, one of the hospitalised, told Deccan Chronicle Geevarghese had his own gang in the college. Naamakkal, where Geevarghese’s college is located, and Salem areas were infamous for drug trafficking.
Aravindakshan, father of Arun Raj, a native of Cherthala who was also injured, said what was uppermost in his mind now was that the boy’s studies should not be affected.
