Toxic ship Probo Koala heading towards Gujarat port
After the ban by Bangladesh, a toxic laden ship named Gulf Jash earlier called as Probo Koala is heading towards India. The ship is coming to the yard in Alang, Gujarat.
Gulf Jash is a 1989 model oil carrier vessel, which weighs over 31,000 tonnes.
The ship found its place in controversy in Africa and Europe after it tried unloading toxic material in Amsterdam. The ship was routed to Africa after authorities imposed heavy fee for disposal.
The ship later found a dealer in Ivory Coast to dump the chemicals off board.
Hundreds of tonnes poisonous chemicals were poured in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, which has caused death of 16 people. However, India has not banned the entry.
