Top Rajasthan officials suspended
Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot has suspended the then superintendent of police (SP) and district magistrate (DM) of Bharatpur and removed inspector-general of police (IGP) in the wake of the communal violence on September 14, which claimed 10 lives. The Opposition BJP criticised the move. The
administration, meanwhile, foiled an attempt by the VHP and other organisations to make a show of strength in form of Hindu congregation Alwar.
Half-a-dozen BJP MLAs courted arrest on Thursday when they defied prohibitory orders in Govindgarh under Alwar and tried to participate in the VHP’s Samrasta programme.
