Top court to media: Behave
The media on Monday virtually was caught in the crossfire in the Supreme Court on the top court one side, which pointed out certain “distortions” in the court proceedings in 2G scam case, and industrialist Rattan Tata supporting some “self restraints” by the media organisations in reporting such sensitive issues.
While a bench of Justices G.S. Singhvi and A.K. Ganguly took latest exception to certain reports on court’s observations on “leak” of Radia tapes before reserving its order last week and also on government affidavit on Rattan Tata’s petition, counsel for the industrialist supported the views expressed by the bench.
“During last three weeks distorted publications of proceedings of this court have been seen...,” the bench said.
“Have restraint on reporting of the views of the court” made during putting queries to the counsel,
the bench said during the hearing of Tata’s petition on the “leak” of Radia tapes, saying “they (media) must not cross the lakshman rekha”.
