Top cops prefer Telangana till Andhra develops
Hyderabad: Most IPS officials of the AP cadre who are outsiders would prefer to be posted in Telangana region after the division of the state. Of the 209 IPS officials of AP cadre, there are very few from Telangana which means Andhra Pradesh cadre will get to work in Telangana.
During the state's division, officers will be allotted to their native cadre and others will be asked to choose. In Telangana regions, there are eight direct recruit IPS officials and 10 are promoted and conferred. An IPS official from Telangana said, “At the time of joining, officers declare their nativity. This will help people from Telangana automatically.
Similarly, those from other regions will be allotted to the AP state cadre. At the first instance they have to calculate the required cadre strength for each state. It has to be one insider and two outsiders.“ If all the outsiders chose Telangana and Hyderabad, then the roster system might be followed where an alternative candidate based on seniority will be allotted.
An additional DG rank official, an outsider of AP cadre said, “I would prefer to stay put in Hyderabad. But for 10 years, there will be a combined capital and so the headquarters will be situated in Hyderabad.
Hence, the top rank officials may stay in Hyderabad. There are no proper facilities in AP region. Officers need police quarters and educational facilities for the students.“
