TMC, Cong attack each other at students’ rallies
The Trinamul Congress and Congress on Tuesday trained guns at each other during the celebration of the foundation day events of their respective students wings: Trinamul Chhatra Parishad and Chhatra Parishad. While Congress MPs like Adhir Chowdhury and Deepa Das Munshi tore into the Mamata Banerjee government at Mahajati Sadan, Trinamul Congress ministers like Subrata Mukherjee, Arup Biswas and Jyotipriya Mullick attacked the Congress at Mayo Road.
Congress MP from Berhampore Adhir Chowdhury said that the sole target of the Trinamul Congress was to wipe out the Congress and not CPI(M) from the state. He, however, also claimed that Congress and not CPI(M) would emerge as Trinamul Congress’ alternative. The known Mamata-baiter challenged Ms Banerjee to contest the Lok Sabha polls in 2014 on her own sans an alliance with Congress. “We know how brave they are. If they have the guts then let them contest the 2014 elections alone. After capturing power in the state with the support of the Congress now she does not like our party,” he added.
Mr Chowdhury said that the people of the state had become increasing disillusioned with the Mamata Banerjee government.

DIDI attacks meage correspodnent
Kolkata, Aug. 28
Continuing her media-bashing, chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday repeated her charge that the media was disseminating false and fabricated reports to hold onto the market. “The media is spreading canards and fabricated news deliberately. Actually, the media has changed and the attitude of the news channels has also changed. They have become commercial. They only have the market in mind not the interest of the mankind,” she added.
