Tirumala buses off on 14, 15
Tirupati: In an effort to put further pressure on the Centre to roll back the decision to bifurcate the state, the All Employees’ JAC of Tirupati, which met at the RDO’s office at Tirupati on Tuesday, decided to stop RTC buses plying between Tirumala and Tirupati for two days.
Briefing media persons, RDO Y. Ramachandra Reddy said that the RTC JAC had resolved to bring to a halt the 100-odd RTC buses plying between Tirumala and Tirupati on September 14 and 15 to send a strong message to the Centre that nothing short of a United Andhra Pradesh would bring back normalcy in the Seemandhra region.
Devotees told to stay away
All Employees’ JAC of Tirupati appealed to private operators to stop plying buses on the ghat roads on September 14 and 15. Tirupati RDO Y. Ramachandra Reddy appealed to devotees to avoid visiting the holy hill shrine over the weekend.
The JAC has also requested the Transco JAC to enforce a one-hour power cut on the evening of September 14 in Tirupati. Meanwhile, TTD requested the JAC to call off the strike.
