Three Dawood aides arrested

Three alleged aides of underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim were arrested in Jhandewala park area here, the police said on Wednesday.

Harun Ullah of Basti, Javed Ali and Kaleem, both from Pratapgarh, were arrested on Tuesday night when they were allegedly trying to loot a jewellery shop in Aminabad area to purchase arms, the police said.

During interrogation, the trio revealed that they were directed by Dawood's brother Anis to kill a builder in Mumbai and for this they wanted money to purchase fire arms.

Harun was earlier arrested in Mumbai in a loot case in 2004, whereas Javed had been a rape and murder accused in 2002 in Pratapgarh, the police said, adding that they were trying to trace their criminal history.
