Three along with snake venom worth Rs2cr held in Thane

Thane police have arrested three persons and seized 600 grams of a rare snake venom, valued at Rs2 crore in the market.

Sources said that acting on a tip-off, police nabbed Vijay Tiwari (40), Pankaj Kumar (36) and Madanmohan Pandey (34) from near the railway station.

Two others had been arrested from the same locality and venom had been seized, two days ago.

The venom is used in the manufacture of medicines for open-heart surgery, cancer, snakebites, and narcotic drugs.

Police team led by ACP Ramesh Shivdas was carrying out further investigations, sources added.
