Hyderabad: Two more Telugu Desam MPs Y. Sujana Chowdary and C.M. Ramesh were suspended from the Rajya Sabha for disrupting proceedings over the Telangana issue in New Delhi on Monday.
In a related development, three suspended TD Lok Sabha MPs K. Narayana Rao, Nimmala Kistappa and Modugula Venugopala Reddy staged a fast in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in Parliament premises demanding justice for Seemandhra in the wake of the state’s bifurcation.
In the Rajya Sabha, deputy chairman P.J. Kurien took the drastic step of suspending the two MPs for the day when they rushed to the Speaker’s podium raising slogans and disrupting the proceedings demanding justice for Seemandhra. They also demanded revocation of the suspension of their colleagues in the LS.
With this the total number of Telugu Desam MPs suspended from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha rose to six- four from Lok Sabha and two from Rajya Sabha. The MPs described their suspension unjust and undemocratic.

It also indicated UPA Government firm resolve to complete Telangana process. I will be forced to take action. I am requesting you to go back.
Honarable members, under the authority conferred on me by Article 255 of rules of procedure and conduct and business of the House, I am directing Chowdary and Ramesh to leave the House immediately please vacate. I am asking you to vacate, a furious Deputy Chairman who was in chair said.
However, both the MPs did not leave the House and staged a sit in even after suspension. In another development, with Lok Sabha Speaker, Meira Kumar ignoring the plea of Telugu Desam MPs to revoke their suspension from Lok Sabha, three suspended TD MPs sat on deeksha in front of Gandhi Statue.
They also opposed the government committee on Telangana and asserted that they would stall the parliament again after the suspension period. We have been suspended for 5 days. All that we are seeking is justice to Seemandhra region.
By suspending us, the Congress is trying to stifle the voice of Seema Andhra people. We are airing their grievances and for that we paid the price. We have been necked out, Narayana Rao said.
TD MP Sivaprasad owhipping act outside the parliament and bringing in ounwanted dangerous objects, and a MP attempt to pull out Speaker mike did not go well with Speaker and leaders of major parties leading to suspensions.
Venugopala Reddy flayed TRS leaders K Chandrasekhar Rao and Harish Rao over their threatening posture on Hyderabad issue.
Government should allay fears of Seema Andhras living in Hyderabad, he added.
Why is government playing with the lives of people? Why is not addressing genuine concerns of people, asked Nimmala Kistappa, another MP.
In Hyderabad, Telugu Desam spokesman, G Muddu Krishnama Naidu defended Seema Andhra leaders of T protests over bifurcation saying others have to go by public mood. Government should hold talks with doctors, advocates, students, employees and others and find an amicable solution, he said.
