Telangana staff lured with Diwali advance
A solution to the month-long general strike by Telangana employees seems to be in sight going by the hints being dropped by both the government and the leaders of the Telangana employees Joint Action Committee.
The GoM have agreed to resume dialogue with the JAC on Saturday after the employees boycotted Friday’s talks. The government is likely to offer a Diwali advance equalling one month’s salary to the employees if they call off the strike.
“Besides, the salary bills for the rest of the month can be prepared once the employees resume their duties before October 20,” sources pointed out.
The JAC chairman K. Swamy Goud, on the other hand, turned emotional and vented his anger against those who stayed away from the Sakala Janula Samme.
Goud also referred to the middle and lower middle class employees not celebrating Dasara as they were not paid salaries.
“We could not buy clothes for our children though they desperately pleaded for it after seeing children in the neighbourhood wearing new clothes,” Goud said emotionally.
