Telangana: MHA note waiting for Sonia nod

The Union home ministry has prepared a draft Cabinet note on the creation of a separate Telangana state.
Sources from the ministry for home affairs sources said it will be sent to the Cabinet Secretariat to be laid before the Cabinet once Congress president Sonia Gandhi is back from the United States, as “political clearance” is needed on this sensitive subject.

Under governmental norms a Cabinet note on creation of a separate state must be moved by the home ministry. MHA sources confirmed that the note was ready.
Mrs Gandhi, who left for a medical checkup in the US on September 2, is expected to return in about a week.
