Telangana decision likely before Monsoon Session
The issue of the formation of Telangana state has entered a decisive phase. It could be taken any time, the Congress indicated on Friday evening after the core group meeting held here.
“The consultation process is over. Now, await the decision of the party as well as the UPA government,” AICC in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Digvijay Singh told reporters after the meeting chaired by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his senior Cabinet colleagues A.K. Antony, P. Chidambaram, Sushil-kumar Shinde and Ghulam Nabi Azad.
The meeting capped a day of hectic deliberations involving party leaders and Andhra chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy.
“We have to take a decision on this issue before the Monsoon Session of Parliament beginning August 5,” well-placed sources in the party said.
