Techie attacked in bid to stop forced marriage out of ICU
Orissa home secretary Bipin Saxena, state women commission chairperson Lopamudra Buxipatra, BJP Rajya Sabha member Dharmendra Pradhan, BJD MP Renubala Pradhan and former Union railway minister K.C. Lenka were among several eminent persons who on Monday met brutally attacked Oriya software engineer and social activist Linkan Subudhi at Kailash Hospital. Noida, and wished her early recovery.
Linkan (29) was brutally attacked for trying to rescue a 15-year-old girl from a forced marriage at in at J.J. Colony in Sector 16 Noida on Thursday.
The 15-year-old girl’s prospective groom and her mother allegedly tried to kill her by slitting her throat and hitting her head with bricks, causing serious head injuries. She was immediately rushed to the hospital and admitted in the intensive care unit (ICU), received around 25 stitches on her head.
Mahesh Sharma, head of Kailash Hospital, said there had been some improvement in the condition of Linkan on Monday and she was shifted to the general ward from the ICU.
She is a native of Nayagarh district.
