T-talks on track, Congress invited me to Delhi: KCR
Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao said on Wednesday that he was confident that a favourable decision on Telangana would be announced soon.
“I came to Delhi at the invitation of the Congress. I have discussed (the Telangana issue) with several Congress leaders and the talks were held in a very cordial environment and were very fruitful,” Chandrasekhar Rao said before boarding a flight to Hyderabad.
The TRS chief added that he would return to New Delhi soon for final talks on the Telangana issue.
He, however, refused to say anything about the statements of Union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, Union home minister Sushilkumar Shinde and Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy that a
decision on Telangana would not be taken any time soon.
At Hyderabad, the TRS chief was welcomed by scores of party activists shouting 'Jai Telangana' slogans.
He had stayed back in New Delhi for almost a month after attending the end of the Monsoon session of Parliament.
Before leaving for New Delhi, he had exuded confidence that the Centre would take a favourable decision on Telangana by September end.
The TRS chief had even skipped the Telangana march organised by the Telangana Joint Action Committee on September 30 to continue deliberations with the Congress leadership, though he received flak from Telangana activist Vimalakka and others for this.
Details of KCR’s Delhi trip remain a secret
Telangana Rashtra Samiti president K. Chandrasekhar Rao, who returned to the city from New Delhi on Wednesday, met Union minister Vayalar Ravi thrice, Oscar Fernandes twice and also Union minister Ghulam Nabi Azad there.
There were also rumours about him meeting Ahmed Patel, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi's political aide.
The TRS chief's deliberations with the Congress high command were kept a highly-guarded secret.
After an MLA who had accompanied him to a meeting leaked the info to a newspaper, Chandrasekhar Rao not only came down heavily on the legislator but also made it clear that henceforth he would not share any information with them in view of the sensitive issue.
TRS sources, meanwhile, say that the party had even offered to merge with the Congress provided a Telangana state was declared.
However, it is learnt that the Congress central leadership has sought more time to decide.
