T-Series files lawsuit against OC over songs
A day after the Australian firms threatened to file a lawsuit on delays in payments related to the CWG, Indian music company T-Series has filed a legal suit complaining that the OC violated copyright norms by using the songs for the event without paying for it or taking the copyright from them. The company has filed a claim of `1 crore.
Sources have confirmed that T-Series head, Bhushan Kumar has sent a legal notice worth `1 crore to the Organising Committee for infringement of copyright.
T-Series has alleged that the OC played some songs, the rights of which exclusively belong to T-Series, without prior permissions or licences. Some of the songs, which have been used by the CWG, include Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire, Dhan Te Na from Kaminey, Dholi Taro from Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Dhanno from Houseful, Deewangi from Om Shanti Om.
T-Series officials said that the OC has taken ground licence for playing the songs but it never took the licence for telecast rights.
