T-men don’t want Hyd as joint capital
Hyderabad: In view of the attacks on Telangana people during the APNGOs rally, the Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) on Saturday rejected the Centre’s move to make Hyderabad the common capital of the two states for 10 years or a UT and demanded Telangana with 10 districts, with Hyderabad as the sole capital.Reviving the Telangana stir, the TJAC announced fortnight-long rallies, meetings and signature campaigns across the region culminating in a mega ‘Sakala Jana Bheri Sadassu’ at Nizam College on September 29 to bring pressure on the Centre to speed up the bifurcation process. The panel also decided to celebrate the merger of the Hyderabad state with the Indian Union on September 17 in a big way, organise a Telangana reconstruction meet in Vikarabad on September 22, support the MRPS meet in Guntur on September 26 and BJP leader Sushma Swaraj’s public rally at Mahbub-nagar on September 28.to share capitalMeanwhile, the TJAC steering committee, which met here on Saturday under the chairmanship of Prof. Kodandaram, opined that the Congress high command’s delay in implementing the CWC’s resolution in carving out a Telangana state including preparation of a Cabinet Note and passing a Bill in Parliament, had given scope to Seemandhra leaders to create a rift among people and hatch a conspiracy plan to stall the Telanga-na process.TJAC and its affiliates the TRS, BJP, CPI-ML, New Democracy and others, decided to intensify the stir to pressurise the Centre to speed up the Te-langana process and also moved resolutions including one seeking Hyderab-ad to be part of Telang-ana and under its sole control after bifurcation.Prof. Kodandaram said that Telangana Congress ministers, too, had failed to take up the Telangana issue with the Congress high command and the Centre and instil confidence in people.“We okayed Hyderabad to be the joint capital till the Seemandhra region establishes a new capital. But Seemandhra leaders are hatching a conspiracy on Hyderabad. The APNGOs meet was a part of it. Now we seek Hyderabad as a temporary capital for Seem-andhra for a very limited period till a new capital is established,” he said. The YSR Congress, he added, had made an abo-ut-turn on Telangana wh-ile the Telugu Desam was still unclear on the issue. On the other hand, Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy was openly backi-ng the Samaikyandhra agitation, he added. To a question, he said pl-ans were afoot to visit New Delhi and meet leaders of all national parties to speed up the Telangana process.Asked whether they had got permission to hold meetings in Hyderabad, he said, “They (the government) have to give permission.”
