T-decision before Monsoon Session?
Top sources in AICC indicates that Congress president Sonia Gandhi has finally decided to end the Telangana deadlock. This will be conveyed to the party’s highest policy making body, the Congress working committee, within the next few days to decide in the favour of creating a separate Telangana state.
Sources said Mrs Gandhi came to the conclusion that other than formation of a Telangana state, nothing else is possible to end the ongoing crisis. She reportedly got reports from intelligence agencies that there will be no major problem if the Congress sings the Telangana tune as the main Opposition the Telugu Desam and national Opposition the BJP are already in favour of a Telangana state. Sources also said, after the CWC decision favouring the formation of Telangana, the Union government will “initiate” steps towards implementation of the decision.
The Congress president also reportedly decided to take all steps, including taking care of the interests of various sections of people living in Hyderabad capital city in the event of the division of the state.
The first step towards that will be the Congress taking a decision in favour of Telangana and the follow-up matters will be phased out in a systematic way. She reportedly came to the decision that as long as the Congress handles the situation, no major resentment is expected from any quarters.
The Congress alone will address all genuine problems of the division of the state than any other party, particularly the Telangana Rashtra Samiti, which has put up an agenda for Telangana, which is bound to lead to controversies and confrontations among the regions. It is reliably learnt that the Congress will not have any tieup with the TRS and also are not going to involve it in the process, to make people genuinely believe in their efforts for a peaceful implementation of the decision.
In an informal talk with the media on Saturday, Senior Congress leader Janardhan Dwivedi said a final decision on Telangana will be announced before the Monsoon Session of Parliament. We are confident that there are clear indications after yesterday’s core committee meeting that the high command is favourably inclined towards Telangana, he said.
