Stunt biker shot dead by police close to CP
A 19-year-old youth was shot dead while his 19-year-old friend was injured when they were reportedly performing stunts on bikes near Windsor Place, close to Connaught Place, in New Delhi early on Sunday morning. A Delhi police patrol opened fire to puncture the bike’s tyre after they refused to heed warnings to stop their dangerous stunts. Several policemen also got injured.
A senior police official said this happened around 2 am on Sunday at Windsor Place, the roundabout near Hotel Le Meridien. The deceased was identified as Karan Padey, while the injured was named as Puneet Sharma, both residents of Khirki Extension in South Delhi. The police said a group of bikers got into a confrontation with policemen who tried to stop them from performing dangerous stunts on the roads, which included both the deceased and the injured. A PCR van spotted the bikers near Windsor Place, and warned them to stop the stunts, but they started pelting stones at the police and damaged the PCR van. The police then decided to puncture their bike’s tyre.
