Strengthen PDS: Pranab

Urging states to strengthen PDS to enable the government insulate the poor from inflation’s adverse impact, finance minister Pranab Mukherjee maintained “some inflationary pressure” will remain in a growing economy.

He said the government will have to take steps to increase common man’s purchasing power.
Mr Mukherjee said the Centre is awaiting a report on how to strengthen and restructure the existing PDS in the country.
