Stocks take a battering
Weak trade figures and profit-booking by foreign institutional investors saw the Sensex plunge to its lowest in 14 months and close down 430.65 points at 19,691.67. The Nifty sank two per cent to close down 125.80 points at 5,980.45.
Not a single stock closed in the green among the Sensex 30 stocks, taking the markets by surprise. Analysts said the fall was unexpected.
