Step will have no impact: Beni

Union minister Beni Prasad Varma said on Sunday that the “much-hyped VHP yatra and the even more hyped ban by the Samajwadi government” would not have any impact on either Hindus or Muslims since both the communities could see through their gameplan.

“This shadow-boxing between the Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janata Party has been going on since 1990 because these two parties stand to benefit from a polarisation of Hindu and Muslim votes. However, people can now see through them and will not be affected by this drama. That is why the VHP yatra has no support from Hindus and Muslims are not gloating over the so-called ban either,” he said while talking to reporters in Lucknow.
Mr Varma said that the ban on the yatra was not implemented in an effective manner.
