Srinivasan comeback in spite of HC ruling?
Rumours are rife that N. Srinivasan, who had exiled himself temporarily from acting as BCCI chief, has, in fact, resumed duty. Even in self-exile, Mr Srinivasan is known to have acted as de facto president, virtually dictating to interim chief Jagmohan Dalmiya on what he should do.
The question that arises after the Bombay high court order that declared the BCCI-appointed probe panel into IPL spot-fixing was “illegal” is whether Mr Srinivasan will go ahead and chair the working committee meeting to be held in New Delhi on Friday. When asked by reporters about this, Mr Srinivasan said they could come and see in what role he attended the meeting. He also told the media to stop “hounding” him. The Bombay high court has held the probe panel was set up in violation of the BCCI’s own rules, and that a prima facie case was made out that Mr Srinivasan was involv-ed in its formation. The court, however, refrained from ordering a new committee, saying forming a new panel was the prerogative of the board.
