Sreeramulu’s party seeks to defeat gowda
Former minister B. Sreeramulu has decided to launch his new political party — BSR (Badavara, Shramikara, Raithara or Poor, Workers, Farmers) on Saturday and is likely to support an Opposition plan to defeat Karnataka chief minister
D.V. Sadananda Gowda in the forthcoming elections to the Legislative Council.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Assembly session here on Friday, Mr Sreeramulu claimed that he had the support of 22 BJP MLAs and added that the Congress had approached him for his support during the December 22 Council election.
The election is crucial for the CM who represents the Udupi-Chikmagalur parliamentary seat in the Lok Sabha at present and is not a member of either House of the state legislature. He was sworn in as CM on August 4 this year and will have to get elected to the legislature within six months.
Mr Sreeramulu also announced that the new party of the Reddy-Sreeramulu combine will be launched on Saturday.
