SP leader booked for varsity stir
The police have SP students’ wing leader Abhishek Yadav, along with 12 others, for the violence on the Allahabad University campus last week.
The police had earlier lodged a case against 500 unnamed students and are now identifying them through video footage.
Abhishek Yadav, incidentally, had shown black flags to Mr Rahul Gandhi at a Congress rally in Allahabad last year in November and was allegedly beaten up by Congress ministers and leaders.
He has now been booked for holding vice-chancellor A.K. Singh hostage for over 30 hours, pelting stones, clashing with the policemen and obstructing the government officials in performing their duty.
The FIR was lodged following a complaint filed by Colonelganj senior sub-inspector Lallan Singh.
The FIRs against the SP leader and his colleagues have been registered under various sections of IPC, including 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others), 342 (wrongful confinement), 435 (mischief by fire or explosive), 504 (insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace).
